Small Business Online (SBO)

Program status: The Hon Dr Craig Emerson MP Minister for Small Business issued a media release on 19 January 2010 with The Hon Martin Ferguson MP Minister for Tourism to announce the successful applicants of the Small Business Online program.

It is expected that Small Business Online services providers will commence program activities in early to mid February. Full contact details for the successful applicants will be placed on this website once contracts have been signed. Individual small businesses seeking access to these services will be able to contact the providers at this time.

Background: 12 May 2009 - The $10 million Small Business Online program was announced in the 2009-10 Budget. This funding will be available for the program over the next two years and will conclude on 30 June 2011.

The Small Business Online initiative will equip small businesses to go online and improve their web facilities and engage in e-business capabilities enabling them to take full advantage of the National Broadband Network.

Being active in the online space will enable small businesses to take up the vast array of opportunities that engaging in the digital economy can offer, including the enormous benefits that will flow from the Rudd Government’s National Broadband Network. Grants will be provided to eligible organisations to build the capacity of small businesses. The grants will help small businesses to go online by offering training seminars on e-business, advice on establishing an online presence and the development of other e-business resources.
